About Me
Hi! I am Kris, the woman behind Sew the Distance. I am so happy you are here.
Here's a little about me. I am a Christian, wife, mother, former ESL teacher, and quilter. I am married to my best friend (everyone says that, right? I just don't know another way to say it!), Brendan. We have two grown sons. We live in Pennsylvania with our golden girl, Daisy.
I have been sewing and quilting since 1995, although I have always loved fabric arts and other crafts. In 2020, I decided to finally do what I love and share it with the world. I started a YouTube channel. My videos have now been watched over 7 million times!
As an avid vintage and antique quilt collector, the backbone of my channel is Lessons from an Old Quilt, where I look at an old quilt, talk about its age, characteristics, and anything else I can find out about it from the clues it offers, and then discuss the lessons we can learn, as modern makers, from the maker of the quilt. So far I've cataloged 113 quilts from my collection (and counting!). I also offer quilt tutorials and more on my channel.
I love sharing the world of quilting with everyone! I also love learning new techniques, growing as a quilter, and being actively involved in the quilting community.
Thank you for stopping by!
