June Quilting Goals Update
Check out the video that goes with this blog HERE.
Where It Started:
It is hard to believe that it is my third year doing this. Setting these yearly goals that I hope to turn into habits has changed my quilting life, and I hope it has changed your, too. Interested in finding out more about previous years and goal setting in general? Start here.
2026 Quilting Goals and Habits
Without further ado, here are my Quilting Goals/Habits for 2026! If you would like to follow along and create your own goals, I have a list of I also have a free monthly worksheet to help track your goals each month.
These videos and blogs have helped keep my accountable. After all, I know I will be reporting to all of YOU on this, and I don’t want to let you down. I highly recommend having someone to keep you accountable, if not in a public way like I am doing, then in a group of friends. It helps me so much!
Want to work on your own quilting habits and goals? Here’s a tracking worksheet to help you!
June Happenings & Highlights:
I have been super busy getting ready for next month’s Christmas (Quilting) in July 2026 event! I can’t wait for it to start!
Speaking of Christmas in July, I made a big quilt-shop run and bought a bunch of wonderful supplies! I also spent some time with a good friend. It was a wonderful day out.
We had the last of the asparagus for the year. This always makes me sad, but it will make next year’s crop even sweeter!
It is officially summer! We are in full-on summer mode! Milkshakes, lemonade, growing baby birds, porch-sitting, and my dad’s gardens! I love this time of year! Check the photo of Dad’s DIY raised bed! I see many more of these in his future. We even spotted a SHARK here in land-locked Pennsylvania. Who knew? Ha!
Along with summer fun, the yard sale season in full swing! I purchased a bunch of stuff this summer already, including TWO antique quilts!
Daisy Update: Our golden retriever, Daisy, is just under 16 weeks out from TPLO surgery (yay!). She isn’t a fan of using the leg still, but she does seem to be improving slowly.
May: Goal Update
Goal 1: Use It or Lose It
Score: 2/5
Everything has been a bit off with preparing for Christmas Quilting in July, but I did manage to tackle a few projects. One was cleaning out and organizing my holiday fabric scraps. I had so many! I got them all gathered, pressed, and ready for the holiday season! Woo-hoo! The second project that I tackled in the category Use It or Lose It is making an iPad cover (much needed!) from a beautiful fabric panel that I have been keeping safe (or, in other words, hoarding!). The panel is by Benartex, and the design is Rachel Rossi. The panel is called Bee Haven, and I just love it! I used the tutorial by Ginger Patch Design to make this, although admittedly, I adjusted the pattern to my own style. Either way, it is a great tutorial if you are interested!
Glow: Making something you need out of a beautiful panel you didn’t want to cut up is winning!
Grow: Keep looking for opportunities to make projects out of some of this amazing fabric!
Goal 2: Clean As I Go
Score: 5/5
What a difference a month makes! I am finding myself cleaning as I go without even thinking about it. It makes it so much nicer to work on projects when everything is back where it belongs. That said, I have to admit I still lose my seam ripper often, but overall, this has been a great month working on this goal!
Glow: I cleaned up without even thinking about it.
Grow: Work on this on a more micro level, like putting my seam ripper away right after using it.
Goal 3: Curate & Catalog My Quilts
Score: 1/5
Although I didn’t curate or catalog any new quilts this month, I did immediately catalog two quilts that I bought at a local rummage sale. That’s something, right? After all, creating a system is easy, but maintaining a system can be challenging. I think this is a good sign! That said, I still have quite a few quilts to catalog before I can really start to analyze what I have and cull out the items I no longer want. Not the exact progress I was planning for June, but there is always next month.
Glow: The system works! That’s good!
Grow: Gather the rest of the quilts and get this part finished! You can do it!
Goal 4: Practicing Walking Foot Quilting
Score: 3/5
I quilted two small projects this month and am thrilled with both of them! YAY! First, I made a quilted table runner for a charity auction. I love how this simple design is elevated with the quilting. I used a serpentine stitch and straight stitch in different color threads. The second project I made is an iPad holder. I wanted something that I could use to cushion my iPad, and this was the perfect project! I did double crosshatch stitches and love the texture.
Glow: Small projects, but cool results!
Grow: Tackle a few of those flimsies in the cabinet next month.
Goal 5: Sewing 15 Minutes Each Day
Score: 3/5
I have sewed a ton this month, but not much for myself, unfortunately. My goal with the 100 Modern Blocks that I have been making this year is to make at least ten of these blocks each month. This month I made six. Whomp, whomp. I am happy, however, with the results! I didn’t have a lot of navy blue scraps, but I did find a navy jelly roll on sale and bought that. I incorporated what scraps I do have with these matching fabrics in the jelly roll and wow, I am so happy with these! Seventy-six are completed! Woo-hoo!
Glow: Even though it wasn’t consistent each day, I did make time to sew this month.
Grow: Maybe get on a morning schedule with this? That may help with progress because I do feel so much better when I get a little time to be creative each day.
I would love to hear how you did with your goals this month. Let me know in the comments!
Happy Quilting,
Kris
