2026 Quilting Goals and Habits
Without further ado, here are my Quilting Goals/Habits for 2026! If you would like to follow along and create your own goals, I have a list of I also have a free monthly worksheet to help track your goals each month.
These videos and blogs have helped keep my accountable. After all, I know I will be reporting to all of YOU on this, and I don’t want to let you down. I highly recommend having someone to keep you accountable, if not in a public way like I am doing, then in a group of friends. It helps me so much!
Want to work on your own quilting habits and goals? Here’s a tracking worksheet to help you!

March’s Goal Update
Goal 1: Use It or Lose It
Score: 4/5
I have a bunch of bins and cleaned out a few this month. I put together packages to donate to my guild’s Quilter’s Corner table that will hopefully help make some money for our guild. I also used a binding that I bought at a yard sale many years ago. I have been holding on to that and some vintage fabric, and I used it in the vintage quilt top that I recently finished. Although I did use a lot of items that I have been holding onto, I didn’t touch a few others, like the quilt blocks I showed last month or the postage stamp quilt blocks that I showed in January. I still have a ways to go with fabrics I want to keep for who knows what.
Glow: I am making some progress, and I am thinking about these items more. For example, when I was finishing this vintage quilt top, I immediately remembered I had this wonderful vintage binding in my stash.
Grow: I really need to tackle the fabrics I have been hoarding. I have so many beautiful prints that I don’t want to cut. I want to use them.
Goal 2: Clean As I Go
Score: 2/5
Hot Mess Express! I am planning a few tutorials and things got so messy! I noticed I wasn’t as creative or having as much fun. I found I was so excited to sew that I jumped right in. Before I knew it, I had a huge mess on my hands. I know that this habit is going to take practice, and this one (I think) is going to be my biggest struggle this year. When I clean as I go, I definitely see a difference in my productivity and, well, happiness. I know it is good for me, kind of like kale and beans. Working at this is going to take time and practice. Another thing that I am noticing is that I tend to stack and shove items from my cutting table onto a shelf near my cutting table. I don’t want a bad habit to create another.
Glow: Continue to work on this, recognizing when I am struggling and make note of my mood, too.
Grow: Make it a point to put things away instead of stacking them on the shelf near my cutting table.
Goal 3: Curate & Catalog My Quilts
Score: 3/5
Although I curated thirteen more quilts this month, I also drug my feet on this one. In fact, it wasn’t until I was outlining this video that I realized I didn’t curate any quilts this month! What did I do? I got to work! BUT the plan is to do these things throughout the month, not to cram for a test, so to speak. Most of the ones I curated this month were quilt tops, all by chance since I bring go through a bag or two at a time, and I just so happen to have a lot of the quilt tops together. For those keeping track (like myself!) I have curated 33 vintage and antique quilts and quilt tops so far.
Glow: At least I did, it right?
Grow: No more cramming for tests and doing this at the last minute! A little at a time will make the task less daunting.
Goal 4: Practicing Walking Foot Quilting
Score: 5/5
As I mentioned last month, I wanted to finish an antique quilt top that I have had for a long time, and (drumroll, please!) I did it! It was wonky and a real challenge, but I did it! YAY! Although I didn’t quilt anything fancy, this still pushed me to allow a few pleats in the quilt when needed, and to push through the wonkiness and bubbles to actually get the quilt finished.
Glow: This was a nice reminder that things do actually quilt out, just like they say. I am happy I was brave and pushed through this project, even when it was uncomfortable to do so.
Grow: Continue to push myself like this, and, of course, do some creative things with straight stitch quilting, too.
Goal 5: Sewing 15 Minutes Each Day
Score: 4/5
I wasn’t great with this this month, unfortunately, and I noticed my stress levels were a bit higher because of it. I did make fourteen more blocks from the 100 Modern Quilt Blocks book, but I made many of them in a few sewing sessions instead of throughout the months. There were many days that I didn’t sew at all. To be fair to myself, it was a busy month with our dog Daisy’s second TPLO surgery. There was a lot of time spent with her while she is recovering. Still, carving out time to sew is self care for me.
Glow: I sewed some of the days, which is good. I also had a few longer sewing sessions.
Grow: Realize that I am happier when I sew at least a little bit each day. Make this a priority moving forward.
I would love to hear how you did with your goals this month. Let me know in the comments!
Happy Quilting,
Kris
